It is very difficult to visit a city in the UK and not come into contact with a pigeon – we have all witnessed the kids running after them and adults ducking out of their way as they fly a few inches above their head. Unfortunately, in some areas they have become such a problem that local authorities have had to take drastic measures to control the bird population. Part of the Busters Group, we at Total Bird Control are able to offer a multitude of solutions for bird control London.

Not only can pigeons, sea gulls and other birds be a real annoyance in some areas, they could also damage buildings, their droppings and the fact that they can carry insects make them unhygienic, they can be noisy and they could affect the reputation of certain businesses.

We offer four main types of bird control systems; bird spikes, netting, decontamination and traps. Following an extensive survey and risk assessment, we will suggest the most suitable solution for the area and then we will install the system into the location.

Our most popular solutions are spikes, wires and netting; Bird spikes are steel projections that prevent pigeons from occupying ledges and other areas on a building. These are available in a selection of sizes, dependent upon the species of bird that is a problem in the area.

Our wire systems are installed above areas where a bird is likely to roost, preventing them from landing on the surface. Similarly, netting prevents birds from landing on the roof of a building or popular landing sites by stopping them from accessing the area.

If the prevalence of pigeons or any other variety of bird has been causing problems for your business, contact us to discuss the bird control London systems available to you. Our friendly team can be contacted by telephone or by filling out our contact form.

In May 2010, we were requested to resolve a pigeon problem behind two office properties in Bristol city centre.

The areas concerned consisted of two light wells which contained an accumulation of pigeon guano on window ledges, drainpipes, external ducting and air conditioning units.

Pigeons were attracted to warmth from the air conditional units, together with the security and safety of roosting points which shield them from the weather.

A thorough hygiene service to remove all relevant pigeon mess was undertaken first, this was then followed by pigeon proofing, which consisted of the installation of pigeon netting and anti-roosting spikes.

All work was completed on schedule and without disturbance or interference to the various tenants in the office buildings.

If you have problems with large groups of pigeons or gulls nesting on your property you might think that there’s nothing that can be done. Birds are after all able to fly out of reach when threatened and are so commonplace in urban areas that it’s tempting to simply ignore them. Unfortunately this can lead to various problems in the future, such as the poor health of those living nearby, soiling of property and various disturbances to everyday life. Thankfully there are companies which specialise in bird control Bristol and can help tackle the problem of nesting birds.

Here at Total Bird Control we use the most discreet techniques to deal with the problem of pest birds because we know what happens if breeding goes on unchecked. Pigeons are the main problem in this area. These birds multiply quickly and carry bacteria such as E-coli, Salmonella and others which can cause illness and diseases such as Ornithosis.

Pigeon faeces can cause respiratory problems for a building’s inhabitants in addition to various other illnesses if ingested or coming into contact with an open wound. Furthermore, pigeons have no problems living amongst their own dead, which can lead to guttering and drainage becoming blocked by dead birds and the build up of faecal matter.

At Total Bird Control we use spikes, netting, post and wire and trapping techniques to deter birds and control populations – all performed quickly and inconspicuously. We can offer solutions where competitors cannot, due to innovation and experience.

Our bird proofing services comprise a range of options which get rid of birds and stop them returning, therefore avoiding the various damage to buildings and noise disturbance that nesting birds cause. So remember, birds are not totally out of reach; services in bird control Bristol like those provided by Total Bird Control can provide permanent solutions.

In 2009 we were asked by FHM to carry out pigeon proofing Birmingham and clearance work on 3 high rise flats in the town of Wolverhampton.

FHM-Photo-300x200Each flat was 20 stories high and consisted of 6 balconies on each floor this was a total of 720 balconies. Each balcony underwent decontamination to be cleared of pigeon fouling and treated with disinfectant in order for other contractors to safely carry out concrete repair work and window replacement. Once the repair work had been done we carried out a second spray treatment ready for our team to carry out the pigeon proofing work.

Due to the size of the building all work had to be carried out using a mast climber.
The bird proofing consisted of a mixture of bird netting and bird spikes. For the bird netting, fixing brackets were installed at 1 metre intervals. A 2 mm galvanised wire rope was used with barrel strainers at each end to take up any slack then black 50mm polypropylene nets were fitted to straining wires on all of the balconies.

The job was finished off using bird spikes glued on the window sills between each balcony to give total protection.
